Ruby Shy Wins But Gets 2nd!

Ruby was awarded 2nd place in the Discovery at Ingliston today, following a double clear round. However, the horse that 'won' the class had 4 faults in the second phase. This went unnoticed by the judges but was certainly noticed by those ringside, including the competitor's family who were standing next to me and gave an audible gasp as the pole on the second element of the penultimate fence hit the floor. Not ones to complain, we graciously accepted second place in the class of 48 competitors. The 'winner' must know it was a hollow victory but, hey, that's life! Even judges can have a lapse in concentration. We know Ruby won the class by right and that's all that matters.

Soooooo Close To Another Win!

We headed off to Kingsbarn's Advanced/Progressive Show today and couldn't believe how busy it was, with 50-60 competitors in the British Novice and Discovery classes. It was also freezing cold with frequent snow flurries. Laguna Flame came so close to another win, clear in the first round and the fastest time, by 7 seconds, in the second phase jump-off. However, he tipped off the second element in the second double. With only 4 double clears, he was easily the fastest four-faulter and took fifth spot. Still haven't thawed out as I was chilled to the bone!

Taking It In Turns.

It was Laguna Flame's turn to take the honours today, at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre's Advanced/Progressive Show. He won the Discovery, with four seconds to spare, in a big class. He was the first horse to go double clear and held his lead right till the end.
Enjoy his round. He did!

Ruby's Turn to Win Today

Ruby Shy won the British Novice at Rowallan today. As usual, she didn't seem to be going particularly fast but made a great turn into the last double. There was under a second between her and the runner-up but she retained her early lead in the class right till the end, beating around 30 competitors. Laguna Flame came so close to beating her, finishing 2 seconds ahead, but tipped a pole at the penultimate fence. Ruby's latest win now puts her out of British Novice classes.
