Laguna Flame wins again!
We were at Ingliston today with Ruby Shy and Laguna Flame. Both jumped well with Laguna Flame winning the British Novice ahead of Ruby who took 4th. It was absolutely freezing though and very precarious trying to get the horses from the lorry park to the arena because of ice.

Front Page

We were asked to do an article for Horse Breeders Magazine. The deadline was quite tight but we made it! We were delighted to hear that the article and one of Lindsay's portraits of Picasso was to be on the front cover. There are others in the article, including the one of It's Showtyme (above). Kingsbarn 14/1/12
We took Laguna Flame and Ruby Shy to Kingsbarn BSJA Show today. It was very busy but so cold! The competition was keen, with some strong opposition. There were 40 in Laguna Flame's British Novice class which he won by an incredible 5 seconds, thanks to a brilliant turn between the last two jumps. Ruby had over 50 in her class and came a very creditable 3rd. Ruby never looks to be going very fast but she consistently beats a lot of very fast horses because she is very economical over the jumps and is able to turn tightly. She beat more than a few professional riders yesterday. This means they have both got off to a strong start in the Arab Horse Society 2012 Performance Awards, gaining 35 and 25 points respectively for their achievements today. Enjoy the videos of their rounds.

An Adventurous Day
On Tuesday, 3rd Jan, we headed off to Kingsbarn BS Show into, what turned out to be, the eye of the storm from Hell. We encountered fallen trees, flying wheelie bins, projectile branches, suicidal roof tiles and exploding bus shelters. When we arrived, the only intrepid competitors to get through, the organisers cancelled the show but, very kindly, let us have full use of the arena and the course of jumps. This was much appreciated as we had brought along Carousel Dreaming, her first time there, and Laguna Flame. Here's how they did with all the scary fillers in a barn that was threatening to relocate to Denmark. I have to say that Carousel was an absolute star. Considering she was in a totally strange place with the wind screaming round the building and rattling everything that could rattle, she didn't turn a hair. Laguna Flame was as focused on the jumps, as always, so I'm sure he didn't hear anything. The journey home was a little less hair-raising, just a lorry off the road avoiding a falling tree. However, we did come home to no power supply and this continued for 60 hours, not easy with all these horses!

SNEC Senior BS Show 10th Dec
We had another good day at the SNEC today. We nearly didn't go because of overnight snow but I'm glad we did. Laguna Flame won the British Novice and Ruby Shy was second in the Discovery.
