SNEC Senior BS Show 10th Dec

We had another good day at the SNEC today. We nearly didn't go because of overnight snow but I'm glad we did. Laguna Flame won the British Novice and Ruby Shy was second in the Discovery.

Sunday 27 November 2011

Another Good Day at the Office.

The girls continued their winning ways at SNEC yesterday. Carousel Dreaming won the 70cm Open before Ruby Shy took the honours in both the British Novice and National Amateur 1m Qualifiers.

Kingsbarn 6th November

Ruby Shy and Laguna Flame had another day out at Kingsbarn on 6th November. It was a case of bad luck with four-fault-itis for much of the day. Ruby did get 4th in the British Novice, having gone clear in the first round, only to have four faults in the jump-off.

Sunday 30 October 2011

Another Successful Day

We decided to jump all three BSJA registered horses at SNEC yesterday. Carousel Dreaming's registration had just come through the day before. We hadn't expected the show to be so busy and there were 40 in her 80cm class, 16 going through to the jump-off, including her. She had a nice first round, despite the scary fillers being in the jumps. She was 10th to go and Leanne was instructed where to turn. Blow me down, she won it by 2 seconds! Not to be outdone, Ruby Shy won the 90cm Amateur Qualifier by over 5 seconds and Laguna Flame was 2nd in the British Novice and 3rd in the 1m Open.

Carousel Does it Again

Off we went to Howe Country Centre on Saturday to give Carousel Dreaming a bit of experience. Ruby Shy went too to keep her ticking over. Carousel got third in her first class before winning her second. Ruby, not to be outdone, won both of hers. All in all, a grand day out.

Sunday 2 October 2011

Another winner makes her debut!

Carousel Dreaming (TP Starbuck x Silverfrost Fantasia), a home bred mare, has now started her performance career in some style by winning her class this week. She jumped a couple of lovely rounds and won in a 3 horse jump-off. Ruby Shy, not to be outdone, won a first and a second in her classes. Carousel has lots of potential and gives us another one to take out on the circuit. She's still a baby so we won't rush her, but what a promising start!

Sunday 18 September 2011

Another BSJA success

Ruby Shy took 2nd in the British Novice class at SNEC yesterday, with a lovely double clear. She was top of the leaderboard for a long time, but was just pipped near the end. She seems to be back in the groove.

Thursday 15 September 2011

Ruby Shy wins.

Last night at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre, Ruby Shy returned from a few weeks off by winning the 95cm class with a double clear. We took her along just to get her going again so didn't expect she would win, never mind in such style.

Saturday 3 September 2011

Laguna Flame returns to Rowallan

We had a late night again last night with a trip to jump BSJA at Rowallan. Laguna Flame was on form again, taking 3rd in the 90cm National Amateur Qualifier and 2nd in the 1m National Amateur Qualifier.

Thursday 1 September 2011

Back From Holiday

Leanne celebrated her return from holiday with a win in the 85cm class and a 4th in the 95cm class at SNEC with Laguna Flame last night. We were very pleased as he'd done absolutely nothing for two weeks.

Possible French Connection for Picasso.

An enquiry from France could see the start of Picasso siring international babies. The lady has a Padron's Psyche sabino mare with lots of white. Now that could be something very special indeed as we love Padron's Psyche and have our own granddaughter of his, the lovely Prima Ballerina (see photo). We are currently researching all the regulations and logistics of exporting chilled semen to France. Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

BSJA SNEC 14/08/11

Ruby Shy was back in action again today following an enforced rest because of a mild infection in her offside heel. She went clear in the 1m National Amateur Qualifier but had the double down in the jump off. She had the second fastest time so would have been right up there with the winner. Laguna Flame suffered equally bad luck in the 1m Open class. He had a great round but tipped one pole. Nevertheless, very pleased again with them.

Showtyme's Night at SNEC

We took Showtyme to a schooling night at SNEC last night. Yet again, he was a good boy, impeccably behaved and obviously enjoyed himself. He went clear in the 85cm class but dropped a pole in the jump-off, still finishing 6th. He also got 5th in the 95cm class, following a lovely round, despite the extra half stride at the second element in the double. (see video).

Showtyme's Showtime

We had visitors to the stud this week and Showtyme decided to live up to his name and put on a show. The visitors were tickled pink. Thanks Tim for taking the pic.

Look Out For Us at HOYS!

We are hoping our horses will be seen by as many people as possible at HOYS this year. Several of our horses will be there, but not in the flesh. Lindsay Robertson will be at HOYS this year promoting his Equine Series studio photography, featuring our horses. Lindsay has also been invited to stage displays in the VIP Suite and the Competitors' Lounge. If you are visiting HOYS and see Lindsay's stand, impress him by picking out some of our boys from their portraits. He will be amazed and would love to talk to you about his work with them.

Laguna Flame Goes to Rowallan

We took Laguna Flame to Rowallan last night. He qualified for the National Amateur Championships 2nd Round by going clear in both the 90cm and 1m classes, gaining 5th and 2nd respectively. The boy is on a roll! The 2nd round is at Rowallan in October. Ruby Shy has already qualified earlier in the year at Kingsbarn.

It's Showtyme - What a clever boy!

It's Showtyme got to take Ruby's place on an outing to SNEC last week. He had only ever jumped two courses in his life but we thought he was up for the 95cm class. Click on his name to see just how clever he was!

Picasso hangs in the National Gallery

A photographic portrait of Picasso Kossack hung in the National Gallery of Scotland this year as part of the Visual Arts Exhibition. The portrait, taken by Lindsay Robertson, internationally renowned landscape photographer, received much critical acclaim and is part of Lindsay Robertson's Equine Series, all of which are our horses, at the moment. Lindsay is hoping to branch out and extend the collection to include native breeds. He already has a champion Clydesdale lined up for the next photo shoot. Incandescent Flame also posed for Lindsay during his inaugural shoot. Both boys are pictured above.

Confirmed - Ruby Shy is an AHS Premium Mare!

We received confirmation last week that the AHS has approved our application to have Ruby Shy granted Premium Mare status on the basis of her British Showjumping performances. Way to go girl!

2 In A Row For The Boy Wonder!

Well, Laguna Flame did it again! He won the 95cm class last night, for the second week running. He was last to go in the first round and there was only one clear. I bet the rider of that horse was willing every jump to fall but he was bang in form and cleared everything by miles. He had to go first in the jump-off and stormed round clear again. She must have had a sinking feeling when she went in to try to beat him because there was no way! What a star!

Thursday 21 July 2011

A week on, he wins the 95cm!

Laguna Flame was really cookin' last night at SNEC. He stormed to victory in the 95cm class, over 4 seconds ahead of the field in the 1m jump-off. It's Showtyme tagged along and had a super night. Considering he has only been around two courses in his life, he only had a pole off the first fence in the 95cm class before jumping clear round the rest of the course. Although green, looked full of class and gave most of the fences lots of daylight.

Thursday 14 July 2011

Laguna Flame Steps Up

Laguna Flame took on a strong field and moved up a height class last night at the SNEC. He went clear in the 95cm class. His jump-off saw some great turns, the likes of which he had never been asked to do before. He got a little over-excited after the double and ran on too fast to the upright, second from home, taking out the top pole. Had it stayed up, he would have won the class by over 8 seconds. He still got 5th. We were chuffed to bits with him.

Carousel Dreaming also got her first outing and showed some great style over the fences in the 75cm class. She stopped to have a long look at the scary double but otherwise jumped clear.

Ruby's Grand Day Out

We went jumping yesterday at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre. Laguna Flame was in first, went double clear and got 2nd in his first class. He had an unfortunate pole down in the second class but he still managed to get 5th as the fastest four faulter.(pic above)

Ruby was on top form again going clear in the 95cm class. She clearly won the jump off as she was the only double clear and she also had the fastest time. In the 105 cm class, she was the only clear in the first round so won it outright. Well done Ruby!

Breeding Season So Far.

We didn't advertise this year thinking the recession would put breeding down everyone's list of priorities. We have had more clients than ever before! So far, all the mares covered, either natural service or AI, are in foal and we are busily covering or inseminating more mares this week. Another mare arrived last night to visit TP Starbuck and we shall be collecting from Picasso Kossack tomorrow for an AI booking to a pure bred Arab mare. There's another part bred Arab booked to Incandescent Flame so, hopefully, there will be lots of little foalies to look forward to next year.

AHS Premium Mare

Ruby Shy qualifies as a Premium mare in the Arab Horse Society's scheme because of her BSJA winnings. Sent off the form today to the AHS so will await confirmation, backing the fact she was awarded a First Premium at a Scottish Sports Horse grading as a foal.

Magnum Classic's Maiden Flight

Magnum Classic aka Rocket, It's Showtyme's firstborn, wore a saddle for the first time today and went for his maiden flight around the school. He was a very good boy and managed to make his legs work with Leanne on his back.

Double BSJA Win For Ruby Shy

Today, at Ingliston Equestrian Centre, Ruby Shy never put a hoof wrong all day and won both her jump-offs with double clears in both the 90cm British Amateur Open and the British Novice. Laguna Flame was a whisker away from making it a clean sweep but just rubbed the last pole in his jump-off. If he had left it up, he would have won the class with 2 seconds to spare. He still came a creditable 5th.

Monday 30 May 2011

Laguna Flame's First 95cm Class

Well, he certainly seemed to be on form at the SNEC in the collecting ring as he was pinging over 110cm with plenty of air in between so we decided to put him in the 95 cm class, his first attempt at that height in a competition. He got 2nd! Yay!

Saturday 21 May 2011

Qualified for Trailblazers' Finals

Ruby Shy got through the 1st round of Trailblazers with double clears last autumn and Laguna Flame picked up his ticket on Wednesday night for today's 2nd round. They both qualified for the finals at Stoneleigh in July, Laguna Flame taking second in his class and Ruby Shy winning hers.

Saturday 14 May 2011

Back on the circuit!

After an enforced lay off since October last year, mainly due to my hospitalisation and convalescence, Laguna Flame and Ruby Shy returned to the ring today in a BSJA Intro Show at Kingsbarn. Laguna Flame had a brilliant double clear in his first class and won it with quite a bit of time to spare. He rolled a pole in the next class or he would have won that too. However, all was not lost, a rather rotund Ruby won it! In our final class, Ruby almost made it a double for her, but had a stop following a tight turn into the third last. She got sixth but her time was the fastest in the jump off. So, all in all, a very promising return.

So far, so good!

Good news for Alma, White Khes hasn't come back into season. Could be another little Showtyme baby cookin' in the oven. Will scan her next week. Also, heard that Rustum's Artist's Dream (Bunty), dam of the hugely successful TP Starbuck babies, Rustum's Scotch Pie and Rustum's Rembrant will be returning in time for her next season to make another TP Starbuck baby.

It's a boy!

Katie Walling called today to announce that Cumbria Black Bindaree gave birth to a huge, black colt last night, by It's Showtyme. He has two white socks on his hinds and a narrow star/strip. She tells us he has loads of presence and is simply stunning. This one is bred to perform, no doubt about it. Here's his first pic.

Stallion update

The boys are attracting some lovely ladies this year and some of them are going to be daddies for the first time. Incandescent Flame (iFlame) was the first to get lucky this season with a lovely tobiano mare, Piece of the Puzzle (Maddie), owned by Linda Riley. Sadly, the closest he got to getting up close and personal with her was standing near 'Floozie', our phantom mare. It was an AI order and I was on my own that day. It was also his first AI collection but he was a megastar and obliged without even having to mount 'Floozie'. It was a day of firsts all round as I had never done a ground collection either, never mind on my own! I heard from the inseminating vet last week to say Maddie was scanned in foal, first attempt. Result!

Proud dad-to-be, Incandescent Flame.

Who's a pretty boy then?

Picasso Kossack has also been busy over the weekend having his first collection too. I did have help this time and he did get to mount 'Floozie'. Once again, he was a megastar, like he had been doing it all his life. I inseminated two mares from the same ejaculate, a pure bred Arab and a coloured part bred, both owned by Shirley and Nicky Gray. Great timing guys and, from my point of view, nothing like keeping your hand in, so to speak! A week or so before, he also performed a live cover with another pure bred, Rodania Karisma, so now we are waiting to see if any of them return in season. Another AI order, for yet another pure bred, is waiting in the wings.

We are desperately waiting to hear from Fiona and Katie Walling to find out if Cumbria Black Bindaree has foaled her It's Showtyme baby. She is due imminently. We love this mare and think the foal will be an exciting and striking prospect. Showtyme has also covered a Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum bred mare, White Khes, by The Wiking, owned by Alma Darville from the Isle of Man. Khes travelled over by ferry for her nuptials and obliged by coming into season as soon as she arrived. Another week and we shall know if she has held. This covering we have on video and shows what a gentleman Showtyme is. He has also just learned how to do flying changes under saddle and is jumping 1m 20cm at home. He is a complete natural!

Not to be outdone, AKA Starbuck's Champagne Star is getting revved up for spreading his wild oats and remotely seducing Blame It On The Boogie, a homozygous, part bred Arab mare, owned by Janine Wade in Worcestershire. Just waiting to hear when she next comes into season then, he too, will be renewing his acquaintance with 'Floozie' and the little swimmers will be on their way.
